Minister of Social Development, Hon. Frederick Stephenson, said that many local institutions are continuing to benefit under the Juvenile Justice Reform Project.
He made this statement during the opening of a two-day National Training Conference organised by the Ministry of Social Development for local and regional stakeholders.
The Juvenile Justice Reform Project, which targets young people in the Eastern Caribbean, who have had to go through the Justice System, is being undertaken by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), and the Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS).
Minister Stephenson said that Juvenile Justice Reform aims to ensure a complete overhaul and upgrade of the justice system of all countries in the region that are engaged in this project. He also said that they want to ensure the total rehabilitation of all youth who come into contact with the law.
Minister Stephenson further stated that they are also continuing to upgrade the relevant local institutions, which will play a role in the Juvenile Justice Reform Project to ensure the success of the program.
