A call has been made for more to be done locally to end violence against women.
This call was reiterated by a number of speakers during the opening of a workshop today, 25th November, held in commemoration of International Day to End Violence Against Women (IDEVAW).
The workshop, dubbed “Voices of the Survivors” is being hosted by the Gender Affairs Division within the Ministry of National Mobilization.
Permanent Secretary Acting, in the Ministry of National Mobilization, Gwendolyn Burgin, said that violence against women is real, and that it is one of the most common human right issues globally.
Miss Burgin also said that, while work has been ongoing to address this issue in the country, the fight must continue and it must be more visible.
