Biography

The Ministry of National Mobilisation, through the Social Protection Unit, hosted a graduation ceremony on Friday, 6th July, 2018, for persons who have successfully completed the 'Home Help for the Elderly Training Program' hosted by the Unit.

Mr. Philcol Jeffers, Communication and Marketing Officer within the Ministry of National mobilisation, etc., was moderator for the graduation ceremony. 

There was an opening prayer by Ms. Sangreta Samuel which was followed by the singing of the National Anthem by all.

The ceremony began at 10:00 a.m. at the Kingstown Roman Catholic Church (Cathedral of the Ascension), at South River Road.

Addresses were delivered by Ms.Claudette Pierre, Director of Social Protection, who gave the welcome and opening remarks; and Mrs. Sylvia Gould, who delivered the program's report. She represented the SVG school of Continuing Education. Remarks were also given by the Permanent Secretary within the Ministry of National Mobilisation, Mrs. Nerissa Gittens-McMillan.

The feature address was delivered by Hon. Frederick Stephenson, Minister of National Mobilization, Social Development, Family, Gender Affairs, Persons with Disability and Youth.

The valedictorian speech was presented by graduate, Ms. Joesan Henry.

The graduates were reminded to put into practice the skills and training they have obtained.

 



This program, Home Help for the Elderly, began in 2001, giving care to the elderly persons of this country. The program provided the participants with knowledge, skills and hands on experiences in administering care to the elderly. The training was also geared towards assisting participants in developing skills in caring for psychological as well as physiological needs of the elderly. The program was comprised of theory and practice.  The graduates completed a two week intense course from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. daily from 28th May to 8th June, 2018. 

Various awards were presented to participants and other officials from within the Ministry, as well as persons associated with the training.

Each trainee received a certificate of completion. The graduates also received special awards; best attired, most outstanding, valedictorian award, most dedicated and helpful, most spirited, most motivated trainee, most determine trainee and most determined learner.

The graduates performed a special song to the gathering.
