Minister

Hon. Orando Brewster

The Gender Affairs Division within the Ministry of National Mobilisation, Social Development, Youth, The Family and Gender Affairs, in observance of ORANGE DAY September 25, 2017, a day of worldwide fraternity and understanding of the domestic violence phenomenon; is asking all concern citizens to join with the Ministry, the Girls Guide Association and other individuals in promoting a “Say No To Violence” Against Women and Girls Campaign, by wearing the color orange for the date mentioned.

The 25th of every month has been designated “Orange Day” by the United Nations Secretary General’s Campaign UNiTE to End Violence against Women, to raise awareness and take action to end violence against women and girls.

As a bright and optimistic colour, orange represents a future free from violence against women and girls. Orange Day calls upon civil society, governments, and UN partners, to mobilise people and highlight issues relevant to preventing and ending violence against women and girls.

The Gender Affairs Division is exploring every avenue in promoting a culture of non-violence here in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, in light of what is taking place, and Orange Day is just another day to echo the call for “A Life Free of Violence". Join us men and women, in wearing orange on Monday 25th September as a symbol of your continued support.

If you need help contact the Ministry at telephone numbers 1-784-453-2061/1-784-456-2949.
