Minister of Social Development, Hon. Frederick Stephenson said that he is hoping that there will be an all-hands on deck approach throughout the country as the Government seeks to end Child Abuse here.

Minister Stephenson was speaking at the opening of a National Child/Youth Conference, being hosted in collaboration with the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF).

Minister Stephenson urged children who are being abused to break the silence and alerting someone who can report the matter and have the perpetrators brought to justice.

Meanwhile the UNICEF Representative for the Eastern Caribbean, Khin-Sandi Lwin said that St. Vincent and the Grenadines signed the Convention on the Rights of the Child close to 23 years ago.

She said countries which are signatories to this Convention have committed to upholding the rights of children.
