Saint Vincent and the Grenadines is among countries around the world observing International Men’s Day today, Tuesday 19th November. The day is being observed under the theme: "Keeping Men and Boys Safe".
In a radio address to mark the day, Minister responsible for Gender Affairs, Hon. Frederick Stephenson said that the day is intended to focus mainly on protecting the health of men and boys and improving gender relations. Minister Stephenson noted that suicide presents a major challenge to keeping men and boys safe.
Meanwhile, the St. Andrew Parish Chapter of the National Council of Women is collaborating with a network of local NGOs in the parish, to observe seven days of advocacy from today International Men’s Day, to Monday 25th November the International Day to end Violence Against Women.
