To promote the well-being and protection of families, advance gender equity, ensure the inclusion and rights of persons with disabilities, and strengthen labour systems through effective policies and partnerships.

The Gender Affairs Division within the Ministry of National Mobilisation, Social Development, etc. is hosting a two-day training of trainers workshop on 'Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity (SOGI)' scheduled for October 15 – 16, 2019, at the Girls Guide Headquarters.

This training proposes to build the capacity of a wide range of stakeholders, including law enforcement officers, educators, social workers and healthcare providers on the importance of respecting the human rights of and providing non-discriminatory services to LGBT people.

The objectives of this training workshop are to:
a. Increase the knowledge of participants on the rights and dignity of LGBT people;
b. Increase the understanding of participants about the challenges faced by LGBT people in accessing public services as a result of homophobia and transphobia;
c. Challenge existing biases and prejudices of the participants to allow for better support the community;
d. Build the capacity of participants to plan and implement trainings within their respective sectors.

Glenroy Murray

The training would be facilitated by Glenroy Murray, Senior Advisor of J-Flag in Jamaica and Marlon Charles-Young, Youth Programme Coordinator at the Saint Vincent and the Grenadines Planned Parenthood Association.
